Three Priced Minnesota Private Detective Training Providers Compared
As of September 2026, this ranking includes only current online PPD records that are open to outside students and have a published tuition price. The order follows published one-time tuition, low to high, while the awards identify the distinct published strength of each option.
By Sharon DeCet, Founder · Updated 8 Sept 2026
The short answer
Front Line's published $75 tuition is the lowest among the three priced providers in this roundup. Minnesota private-detective employees should choose a current PPD directory record, rather than the separate PPA course, and complete the required training within 21 days.

The state record is the comparison baseline
Minnesota private-detective employees need a 12-hour Pre-assignment Private Detective course, or PPD, rather than a Protective Agent course, or PPA. Minnesota DPS training guidance also says that approval checks course content and instructors, not provider quality.
Use the four checks below before paying, then read the Minnesota PPD role and course guide or the broader private-investigator certification path if you need to map training to your next step.

How we built this list
The Minnesota DPS Board Certified Training Courses directory is the approval baseline. The current directory workbook, modified 24 August 2026, contains 18 PPD records, including eight marked online and open to outside students. This roundup omits listed providers without a current published tuition price, because a price comparison needs prices that readers can check. Front Line Consultants publishes $75 for PPD 038, NITA publishes $170 for PPD 044, and Learning Shop USA publishes $185 for PPD 031. Provider claims are attributed in words and are not linked.
